Western successfully completed the Antrim Area Hospital project which comprised of the provision of 2 modular buildings to facilitate 16 patient bed spaces and associated ancillary accommodation including link corridors to the existing hospital building. The modular buildings comprised of pre-finished steel frame modular systems, which were then linked together to create the finished buildings. These systems encompassed all mechanical and electrical services to the requirements of the NHS. We also installed all internal and external finishes for the building which was applied within our quality-controlled environment. As this project was on a live hospital site, using our unique manufacturing facilities located at our Head Office enabled us to build the 2 modular buildings before delivering them directly to site for installation, this reduced the risk and increased the safety of all of the main building users during the project duration.
Close communication and co-ordination with the hospital was critical to the success of this project. To achieve this, regular meetings were held from contract award to project completion with the Hospital’s governing bodies and our project team. This allowed us to successfully prepare risk assessments and method statements, as well as agree the best method of making the site safe from all building users. Our close coordination and communication with the Hospital allowed us to agree and organise the delivery and installation of the Modular buildings while ensuring no disruption or inconvenience to all of the main building users. In using these methods, we were able to successfully complete and handover the project within the contracted 12 weeks to the Highest Quality to Budget and Satisfaction of the Client.
