We are proud to announce a major step forward in our mission to innovate and lead in modern construction methods. Western has invested £1 million in a fully automated timber panel production line at our headquarters in Coalisland—an integral part of our broader multi-million-pound investment programme aimed at boosting efficiency, precision, and sustainability.

Embracing State-of-the-Art Automation

Developed in collaboration with Modular Building Automation and JJ Smith Woodworking Machinery, our new production line combines cutting-edge automation with powerful digital design tools. At its core is a suite of next-generation machinery engineered for one-person operation, enabling the production of both open and closed timber wall panels with minimal manual handling:

  • X-FRAME Assembly Station – CNC-driven, automating placement, clamping, and nailing of panels.
  • X-MULTI Multifunction Bridge – Nails, staples, applies breather membranes, and fixes battens all in one go.
  • X-TILT Butterfly Tables – Rotates and handles panels during insulation and interior sheeting, improving safety.
  • Stromab CT600 Saw – A high-speed, CAD/CAM-integrated crosscut saw reducing waste and enhancing efficiency.

These machines are underpinned by hsbcad’s integrated digital design platform, enabling seamless workflows from concept to manufacture.

Building Smarter and Greener

This investment advances our sustainability goals. By refining off-site manufacturing processes, we aim to accelerate delivery timelines, minimise site disruption, reduce material waste, and achieve tighter building tolerances, supporting ambitious carbon reduction targets and the push towards Net Zero buildings.

A Vision Statement for the Future

“This isn’t just a leap in technology – it’s a statement about where we’re headed,” said Managing Director Rory McGuigan. “We’re investing in the future of construction, making our operations smarter, faster, and more sustainable.”

Why This Matters

  • Precision & Quality – Consistent, high-quality production.
  • Faster Turnaround – Advanced machinery speeds up delivery.
  • Sustainability – Less waste and lower carbon impact.
  • Industry Leadership – Staying ahead of evolving standards.

Looking Ahead
Our new automated timber panel production line is more than an upgrade—it’s the heart of our journey towards smarter, greener, and more dependable construction.
