Project Overview

The project involved a new four classroom school for Maryborough National School, Portloaise.  The school build was part of a campus in Portlaoise including two other new Schools for Department of Education and Skills.

Construction process

As Lead Design and Build Contractor, Western Building Systems were responsible for all design elements, site development works, mechanical and electrical installations. The buildings were a permanent build school consisting of structural steel frame, precast concrete floors, block plastered walls and constructed in a curved structure. The building was a complete turnkey solution completed within programme. Works also included formation of bridges over an existing protected river.

Handover

Western carried out this project concurrently with seven other schools as part of the Build Schools Framework as per programme.
