Project Overview

This project saw Western build a new school for the Department of Education and Skills in Clonakilty, Co Cork. The build would the construction of a new 12 classroom school, a GP room and two class based special needs units for Gaelscoil Mhichil Ui Choileain.

Construction Process

As the appointed Lead Design and Build contractor, Western Building Systems were responsible for all design and site development work. The building was a permanent school building, consisting of a structural steel frame, precast concrete floors and block plastered walls. The building offered a complete turnkey solution for the school.

Handover

Western carried out this project as part of the Build Schools Framework and carried out the building work in Clonakilty at the same time that 8 other school projects were ongoing. Two of these schools were located in county Cork. All work on the project was carried out on time.
